Orbital Synthesis

This ambient electronic piece explores the concept of orbital patterns through sound. I wanted to create something that evokes the feeling of planetary movements - steady yet complex, predictable yet mysterious.

Production Notes

I created this track using:

• Ableton Live as my primary DAW
• Arturia V Collection for the main synthesizer sounds
• Valhalla Reverb for creating the spatial atmosphere
• Custom field recordings of mechanical objects for textural elements

The main melodic sequence follows a pattern based on the orbital ratios of planets in our solar system, creating a harmony that's mathematically derived from natural phenomena.

Process & Inspiration

My fascination with the intersection of astronomy and music led me to experiment with translating orbital periods into musical intervals. Each synth voice represents a different celestial body, with its rhythm and pitch corresponding to its properties.
